TUMOR ODONTOGÊNICO QUERATOCÍSTICO E CONSIDERAÇÕES DIAGNÓSTICAS

O tumor odontogênico queratocístico (TOQ) é uma patologia benigna, que apresenta controvérsias em seu diagnóstico e tratamento. Ocorre principalmente em região de ângulo mandibular, podendo estar ou não relacionada a um elemento dentário e cuja importância deve-se ao seu comportamento agressivo e alta taxa de recorrência. As causas dos altos índices de recidiva observados nesta lesão estão na dependência de fatores como: faixa etária, localização e tamanho da lesão, gênero, tipo de tratamento e variante histológica. A cápsula delgada e friável de tecido conjuntivo dos TOQ pode favorecer a permanência de restos epiteliais responsáveis pela elevada capacidade proliferativa dessa entidade clínica. Em decorrência da agressividade assim com sua recorrência o presente trabalho tem como objetivo realizar revisão bibliográfica abordando aspectos clínico-imaginológicos, histopatológicos que compõe o diagnóstico do TOQ.
