About the Journal
Focus and Scope
Gestão & Regionalidade (G&R) aims to contribute to the generation and dissemination of knowledge in the field of Administration, considering the traditional sub-areas of this field of knowledge and incorporating studies that address the themes of Management, Regionality, and Innovation. G&R targets professors, researchers, undergraduate and graduate students, and a relevant portion of the business and public management community. It is a generalist journal in the field of Administration but seeks to delve into topics that associate business management with regionality and innovation. Studies in this sub-area focus on analyzing the articulation of joint efforts by organizations and other segments of society within a region - which can be geographic, administrative, economic, political, social, and cultural. The national and subnational context is also relevant to G&R. Articles published in the journal Gestão & Regionalidade should be based on the principles of scientific knowledge construction, address relevant topics for the field of Administration in the current context, and use theoretical-conceptual frameworks that reflect the state of the art in the field. The works should also clarify the impacts of their results and conclusions on administrative theory and practice.

Periodicity

This publication model ensures faster publication flow, benefiting authors and readers who will not have to wait for the complete closure of an issue to access the article. The periodicity of the journal G&R changed from quarterly to annual, starting from February 24, 2023, and had the republication of its first volume in the continuous publication model.

Ethics in Scientific Production
Code of Ethics
Gestão & Regionalidade adheres to the ethical principles applicable to the editing of scientific journals and the publication of scientific articles, principles essential for the journal to fulfill its role as a guardian of scientific knowledge in the field of administration. Editors, authors, and reviewers must follow these principles, ensuring ethics and integrity in the publication process. Below we detail the ethical standards that must be followed by the actors involved in the editorial process.
Authorship
The authorship of the publication should include only individuals who have significantly contributed to the work presented. All authors must necessarily meet the following criteria: (i) must have made substantial contributions to the conception or design of the work; or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data for the work; (ii) must have participated in the drafting of the work or the critical revision of the intellectual content; (iii) must have approved the final version to be published; (iv) must be responsible for all aspects of the work, ensuring that questions related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved (According to the guidelines of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors - ICMJE: https://www.icmje.org/recommendations/browse/roles-and-responsibilities/defining-the-role-of-authors-and-contributors.html. The author submitting the article must ensure that all co-authors have seen and approved the final version of the article and agreed to its submission for publication in Gestão & Regionalidade. If the editors of G&R identify authorship issues using COPE guidelines, the authors will be contacted for clarification (https://publicationethics.org/sites/default/files/how-to-identify-authorship-problems-cope-flowchart.pdf). If a problem is indeed identified, the article will be withdrawn from the evaluation process. Also, regarding authorship, the inclusion (or exclusion) of authors during or after the editorial process will be subject to the editor's evaluation on a case-by-case basis and must have the consent of all authors of the article.
Duplicate Publication
Submitting the same manuscript (or a highly similar manuscript) already published in another scientific journal for publication constitutes unethical publication behavior. If duplication is identified during the editorial process, the authors will be notified, and the article will be withdrawn from the process. If duplication is identified after publication, the article will be subject to withdrawal from the issue in which it was published, and the journal's readers will be duly informed about the case. Note: results of studies previously published in conference proceedings are not considered duplicate publication. Additionally, authors should inform the prior presentation at a scientific event during submission. Articles from theses and dissertations are accepted, and authors should add this information in the "notes to the editor" field in the submission system.
Plagiarism
All articles submitted to the journal Gestão & Regionalidade undergo a plagiarism check during the peer review stage using the Ithenticate tool from CrossRef. If sections with similarity (except direct citation) are identified and for which reproduction was total and/or without citation, the authors will be contacted for clarification. In the absence of clarification from the authors, the editors will archive the submission. During the peer review process, reviewers may also find evidence of plagiarism. If this happens, reviewers will inform the editors (providing the necessary evidence), and the editors will investigate the suspicion of plagiarism using the following COPE flowchart: (https://publicationethics.org/sites/default/files/plagiarism-submitted-manuscript-cope-flowchart.pdf). If the suspicion of plagiarism is confirmed, the editors will archive the submission.
Citations and References
Articles should cite appropriate and relevant literature to support the claims made. Excessive self-citation, unnecessary citations not consistent with the content of the presented article, and any other form of citation manipulation are considered unethical procedures. If citation manipulation is identified, it will result in the submission being archived.
Conflict of Interest
Authors must declare any potential conflicts of interest - whether professional or financial - they may have regarding the article. Authors must also disclose all sources of funding that supported the research reported in the article. If evidence of undisclosed conflicts of interest is found, the editors will use the following COPE flowchart to proceed with the necessary measures: (https://publicationethics.org/files/conflict-of-interest-submitted-manuscript-article-cope-flowchart.pdf). Editors and reviewers invited to evaluate articles must also disclose conflicts of interest that may bias the editorial process, such as personal, academic, or financial relationships. Reviewers should not evaluate manuscripts if they believe they are involved in any conflict of interest. If there is potential bias, editors should pass the leadership of the article process to another editor.
Data Fabrication
Data fabrication is the unethical practice of inventing data or research results and recording or reporting them in the article. Gestão & Regionalidade is strictly against data fabrication, as this practice undermines the integrity of the scientific literature and its credibility, potentially leading to erroneous conclusions. In this sense, if a suspicion of data fabrication is found in submitted articles, the editors commit to using the COPE flowchart (https://publicationethics.org/files/fabricated-data-submitted-manuscript-cope-flowchart.pdf) to proceed with the necessary actions. If data fabrication is confirmed, the editors will archive the submission.
Confidentiality
Gestão & Regionalidade keeps all details of a submitted manuscript confidential and does not comment or publish about manuscripts while they are under consideration or when they are rejected. The editors and reviewers of Gestão & Regionalidade are committed to not disclosing data from manuscripts (or supplementary materials) before their publication, as well as not using the knowledge acquired from an unpublished article to promote their own interests. If reviewers are accused of misappropriating ideas from a work under review, the editors of G&R commit to using the following COPE flowchart to help deal with this situation: (https://publicationethics.org/files/reviewer-misconduct-suspected-cope-flowchart.pdf).
Errors in Published Works
When a significant error or inaccuracy is discovered in a published work, it is the author's obligation to immediately notify the journal editor and cooperate with the editor to retract or correct the article.
Research in Human and Social Sciences
Research in Human and Social Sciences involving data directly obtained from participants or identifiable information must follow the guidelines of Resolution No. 510, of April 7, 2016 (https://www.in.gov.br/materia/-/asset_publisher/Kujrw0TZC2Mb/content/id/22917581) and present approval from an Ethics Committee in applicable cases.
Approval from Ethics Committee and Obtaining Free and Informed Consent
When approval is not required, according to the exceptions provided by current legislation, authors do not need to present ethics committee approval.
